Welcome to the Lowcountry Regional Education Center, a virtual resource to help you connect with the information and services you need to make important education, career and life decisions.

As one of twelve Regional Education Centers currently being set up throughout South Carolina, the Lowcountry Regional Education Center is a network of local service providers to help students and adults access the guidance and opportunities they need to become the prepared employees the state needs to compete and excel in the global economy.

The LREC website provides a "one stop"  virtual resource center which bridges students, parents, educators, adult learners to local businesses. We provide the citizens of our community with the tools to take control of their education and career goals, and to take full advantage of the opportunities available in the Lowcountry community.  We strive for a Lowcountry where "every person... will reach his/her potential in education attainment and workforce accomplishments."

The Regional Education Centers are mandated by the Education and Economic Development Act of 2005 (EEDA). We coordinate and facilitate the following services:

  • Career planning, job opportunities, and training for Students and Adults.
  • Professional development programs for Educators.
  • Compliance and accountability resources for local School Districts pursuant to the provisions of the EEDA.
  • Information and resources to Local employers including, but not limited to, educational partnerships, career-oriented learning, and training.
  • Partnerships between local businesses and educators.
  • Connections between school districts and institutions of higher education which create and coordinate workforce education programs.
