Is This A Good School? Strategies to help evaluate the quality of postsecondary educational programs and schools.

In their quest for higher education and training, students and the public in the United States
sometimes encounter “diploma mills” dubious providers of educational offerings or operations that offer certificates and degrees that are considered bogus. They may also encounter “accreditation mills” dubious providers of accreditation and quality assurance or operations that offer a certification of quality of institutions that is considered bogus.

Adult High School Diploma and GED Classes

School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties offers a selection of courses prepared especially for you, the adult citizen. Whether you need courses for high school diploma, high school equivalency (GED), to learn a new skill or to self improve, you will find something to fill those needs.

Get a High School Diploma. On average, 15 - 20% of young people in developed nations quit high school before graduation. Unfortunately, the economic prospects of high school leavers are poor. In Canada, for example, they are three times more likely to be unemployed than university graduates. Education also has a direct impact on earnings. An American study comparing the incomes of university and high school graduates found that degree holders made 54% (males) to 88% more (females).

Lexington School District One Adult Education has open enrollment year round.  There are no classes from the last week in June until the second week in August.  Otherwise, we follow the Lexington School District One school calendar.

Lexington School District Two Programs in Adult Education are designed to allow students to attain the levels of proficiency in reading, writing, math, life skills and problem solving which are necessary to function on the job and in society.

Lexington School District Three Batesburg-Leesville Life Long Learning Center

Richland School District One Adult and Community Education improves the academic skills of adults and families, as measured by the number of adults earning high school diplomas and GEDs each year and the gains achieved by adults functioning below eighth-grade educational level.

Richland School District Two Lifelong Learning Program offers a variety of educational opportunities for adults 18 years or older. In addition to the diploma, GED Preparation and Basic education classes offered under Adult Education, the Lifelong Learning Program provides family literacy classes, computer instruction, English-as–a–Second Language, and special interest classes.
