The Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA) offers professional development opportunities to educators to keep them abreast of the rapidly changing world of business so that they can more effectively advise and educate students on future careers and the requirement to pursue those careers.

In Newspapers in Education teacher resources, lesson plans are updated weekly. Curriculum guides are also available electronically. The lesson library is updated constantly.

(MEBA) develops resources to promote career education. An allocated amount of resources are provided free of charge to schools in our service area. Additional materials may be purchased.

The mission of the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network is to serve as a research center and resource network for practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to reshape school and community environments to meet the needs of youth in at-risk situations so these students receive the quality education and services necessary to succeed academically and graduate from high school.

    Mid-Carolina AHEC is part of the South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium and serves 11 counties in central South Carolina. Mid-Carolina AHEC provides cores services of continuing education, health professions student services and a health careers program.

    Chapin High School in Lexington/Richland School District Five has developed a new At Risk Student Intervention Program, a framework for developing, implementing and evaluating Chapin High School's At Risk Program.  The model is designed to:

    • Decrease percentages of truancy, tardiness, absenteeism, discipline referrals, and retentions
    • Increase students’ grade point average
    • Decrease dropout rates and increase of student who graduate in 4 years
