May 17, 2008 -- 2008 Black Expo 

The Midlands REC will participate as an exhibitor at the 2008 Black Expo to be held in Columbia, SC, on May 17, 2008, at the Colonial Center.  Prior Expos have drawn more than 250 exhibitors and 25,000 attendees.  The Midlands REC will spotlight information and distribute materials about the RECs and Personal Pathways to Success.

August 14, 2007 -- Chapin High School's At Risk Student Intervention Program
Chapin High School in Lexington/Richland School District Five has developed a new At Risk Student Intervention Program, a framework for developing, implementing and evaluating Chapin High School's At Risk Program.  The model is designed to:
  • Decrease percentages of truancy, tardiness, absenteeism, discipline referrals, and retentions
  • Increase students’ grade point average
  • Decrease dropout rates and increase of student who graduate in 4 years
