Mission

The Upstate Regional Education Center is established to coordinate and facilitate the delivery of information, resources, and services to students, educators, employers, and the community.
Goals
- Facilitate and coordinate services to students and adults for career planning, employment seeking, training, and other support functions.
- Disseminate information and market resources and professional development programs available to educators.
- Work to improve awareness in school districts to support compliance and accountability pursuant to the Personal Pathways (EEDA).
- Facilitate and coordinate information and resources for employers, including but not limited to education partnerships, career-oriented learning, service learning, and training opportunities.
- Facilitate local connections among businesses and community partners and those involved in education.
- Work with school districts and institutions of higher education to promote and market workforce education programs and other post-secondary educational opportunities available within Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union Counties and South Carolina.
Commitments
- Provide professional development and EEDA accountability information to educators.
Conduct local needs assessments (Upstate Gap Analysis).
- Serve as a network of career planning, employment seeking with education and training service providers.
- Develop and facilitate partnerships between business, community agencies, and educational institutions.
- Coordinate the development of educational programs to meet economic development need for Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union Counties.

The team connects business, education, adults in career transition, and community partners to develop an educated, skilled, and globally competitive workforce that will generate strong economic growth in South Carolina.
