Business Collaboration

Business involvement is imperative to make education relevant to students by:

  • Out-of-classroom learning opportunities beginning with local business involvement.
  • Supporting educational progress is an investment in the future of our state--and our local businesses.
  • Businesses influence and contribute to the educational growth of students.
  • Supervisory and motivational skills improve when employees work with students.
  • Partnerships with local businesses build a positive community image.

Business Involvement

  • Offer internships to high school students.
  • Allow students to shadow an employee to learn more about the industry.
  • Speak to middle and high school students about opportunities and industry trends.
  • Spare an hour to be interviewed by a student.
  • Host an event or tour at your workplace so local students and parents can learn about your business/industry.
  • Write letters to the editor of the local newspaper about Personal Pathways to Success and the importance of business involvement.
  • Serve on an advisory board or committee for the local Regional Education Center.

Businesses connect with educators and students through the online Regional Education Centers.  REC's serve as one-stop "virtual" centers where businesses and educators can connect with nonprofit groups, workforce development boards and other organizations.

Business involvement is critical to make the initiative a success because it gives our students exposure to opportunities beyond high school.
